Actions to identify your dreamsigns

These actions are what you can do to practice how well you can identify your dreamsigns.

  1. Keep a dream journal
    • Keep a journal in which you record all of your dreams. Twelve is a good amount to identify your most common type of dreamsign.
  2. Catalog your dreamsigns
    • While continuing to add entries to your dream journal, be sure to identify or highlight your dreamsigns however you wish. After each journal entry, be sure to list out your dreamsigns.
  3. Classify each dreamsign using the dreamsign inventory
    • Beside each of your listed dreamsigns, write the name of the category from the dreamsign inventory that you feel it best fits into. For example, an animal having a conversation with you is an action dreamsign.
  4. Pick target dreamsign categories
    • Count the frequency of each dreamsign category(inner awareness, action, form, and context) and order them by their frequency. The dreamsign that occurs most frequent will be the target dreamsign category for you. If there happens to be a tie, choose the one you most resonate with.
  5. Practice looking for dreamsigns while you are awake
    • Make it a habit to examine your day to day life for occurrences that align with your dreamsign category from step 4. Be sure to internalize what takes place during waking life. This will prime you to notice when unusual events occur within your dreams.
